Uh, it's Tuesday?

Here's a weird thing that happens to me occasionally. Not so often I'm concerned, but often enough.

I forget I've shampooed my hair.

Like, right after I've done it, I forget. I'm in the shower, scrubbing away, it's time for shampoo, I grab the bottle, squirt some out, lather, and rinse. Sometimes - like today - when I go to get out I think "Wait a minute... did I shampoo my hair? I think I did. But I don't really remember. Hmmm....."

It's not like there are lots of other things I immediately forget doing. Just this. I'm hoping I'm only on autopilot and my brain is off in some other place.

Like I said, weird.

Washing my face is the last task on my morning shower schedule and I've had to turn the shower back on and repeat more than a few times because I simply couldn't remember doing it. I worry about myself sometimes. FWIW, shampoo and creme rinse is the first thing I do because I leave it on while I do the rest. I honestly don't think I could forget anything because I've been doing it the same exact way for at least 30 years.

It's amazing what your brain will let you do without "you" being involved. I've had the experience of getting so caught up in something I'm thinking about while I drive that I'll suddenly realize that I don't have a clear memory of the past minute or two. I've had tthe same shampoo moment. But here's a regular household thing: Unlocking the front door and leaving my keys in the lock. So when I can't find my keys, the door has become a regular place to check.

Another thing that I routinely forget: did I put the garage door down when I backed out of the garage? More than once I've turned around and gone back to check.
