I Declare Victory

I think I'm done my Movable Type 4.0 upgrade. It took me a while but I'm feeling quite satisfied with myself. I deleted a lot of old MT, shuffled my archives into a more logical location (giving me 35 entries with broken links that I'll fix as necessary), and purged all unnecessary stuff. My templates are totally MT4. I managed to modify my style sheets successfully using the ones that came in the box. Admittedly I didn't do a major redesign but I like how my blog looks. There's nothing showing I don't want. The CSS validator even tells me I can display this:

Valid CSS!

Best of all I think I understand all that I did. I'm not sure I could say that before.

If I knew who to call, I'd have a laurel wreath sent 'round.

Congrats. It looks great.

I'm still tinkering with widgets as time, energy, and inclination permit. I can also display the CSS validator and probably will if I can still display it when I'm finished.

Thanks, Rob. 'preciate the compliment. What really helped was setting up a clean install in another spot.

Yes, congratulations! I really like your clean look. I was surprised, but happy, to see you've been blogging quite a bit lately.

I too did a clean install of MT4 and have been considering adopting it as my new blog and dropping the old. But, seeing what you've done with your place, I may just upgrade the old one. Maybe.

I think blogs are like furniture in a room. Some people like to rearrange, others don't. Me? Once that furniture is arranged, it stays that way forever. So it is with my blog. Good luck with your redesign, Marie. I'm sure it'll look great.
