Still Here

in |

A favorite summertime preoccupation of mine is watching the hummingbirds come to my feeders. I always feel kind of sad this time of year because now is about when they start heading south for the winter. I still clean the feeder and change the nectar regularly but in September I know it's getting to be a pointless effort. As I recharged the feeders this morning I wondered if any hummingbirds were still around.

One's still here. About an hour later I saw a female feeding on my deck in the early morning chill.
