Maryland MVA Redefines Convenience

in | | Comments (2)

Over the weekend I received a mailing from the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration. You can imagine my excitement when the enclosed documents promised driver's license renewal by mail. How cool is that? Think of the time saved. No going to the Maryland MVA office to stand 45 minutes in line for a 3 minute job. No inept bureaucrats. Heaven.

Oh, what's that you say? What about my vision check? How is that done by mail?

Well, being the Maryland MVA, they naturally thought of everything. I simply take the mail-in renewal form to my optometrist and have him fill out the back of the form stating my vision is OK to drive.

How's that for convenient?

I just did mine for Illinois online. On man, talk about convenient. Going to the DMV and standing in line, usually ends up being a major chore for some unknown reason. But, this was very pleasant.

I wish Maryland had on-line driver's license registration. I've got till 12/25 to head over to the MVA to renew.
