Sartorial Splendor

I got my hair cut today. I get it cut every six weeks whether it needs it or not. This was the last cut in 2003.

I really like my barber (uh, I mean stylist). He's quick and he cuts my hair just the way I like it. My barber also has what I consider to be the most absolutely important requirement for any barber who cuts my hair. You might think that requirement is the ability to cut hair. But you'd be wrong. Accomplishment at hair cutting is only a secondary consideration. For me, the most important requirement for my barber is the ability to keep his mouth shut. I don't want to be held captive in a barber chair with some yakity-yak guy who wants to make small talk. No sir. I want total, complete, and utter silence.

From this morning...

"Same?"
"Yes, please."

*snip* *snip* *snip*
*cut* *cut* *cut*
*trim* *trim* *trim*
*dry* *dry* *dry*

"All done!"
"Looks great! Thank you very much."

My guy is well-trained.

I'm impressed you go to a "stylist". The hunter won't set foot in a place where there isn't that barber shop ambience--some kind of hair oil smell, old hunting and fishing magazines, etc. And I'm also impressed with your mouse killing abilities. It could be the start of a new career.

More traditional barber shops are not all that common here in central MD yuppie land. And were I to go to one (which would be all right with me) I would still have to go through the training process of conversation minimization. S- got me going to her place and I've found a non-talkative guy there. I'm content. (And as wussy as it sounds, I kind of like having my hair washed, which they probably wouldn't do in a barber shop.)

I left the trap with mouse in the garage for my wife to find. Hehehe.

Sounds like the kind of guy hubby would like... The guy who currently does his hair is about 103 and isn't always there (I jest, but he is all but retired. It's no fun looking for someone new...
